PakHomestay is a community-driven tourism platform connecting travelers with authentic homestay experiences in Abbottabad and the wider Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region. We believe that travel is most meaningful when it respects and benefits the communities who host visitors. In our model, local families invite you to stay in their homes and share their customs, food, lifestyle and beliefs, rather than isolating you in anonymous hotels. These communities manage both the tourism experience and the financial benefits, which strengthens their self-governance, creates economic alternatives and helps preserve traditional ways of life.
Community-based tourism has three defining characteristics: Indigenous or local leadership, sustainability and cultural immersion. Our homestays are run by the hosts themselves, so your visit supports locally owned enterprises rather than remote corporations. We emphasise sustainable practices that generate jobs and keep tourism revenue within the community while encouraging responsible resource use and conservation. When you stay with us you gain a deeper understanding of our region’s culture and environment through direct interaction with your hosts.
Choosing PakHomestay means choosing an experience that benefits both visitors and residents. Guests enjoy hands-on experiences, build deeper connections with people and places and gain empathy and awareness of other cultures. At the same time, your spending goes directly to the local communities, ensuring that tourism development is equitable and empowering for those who live here.
PakHomestay is overseen by the Business Incubation Centre at Hazara University. As part of our mission to develop entrepreneurs and create an environment that supports them, we help local hosts build sustainable businesses and uphold high standards of hospitality. We invite you to explore Abbottabad through the eyes of its residents, support community-led tourism and contribute to the preservation of our cultural and natural heritage.
